Call for Papers
GSA (German Studies Association)
San Diego, CA (29 September - 2 October 2016)
“Heine and Love: Affect, Aesthetics and Politics in 19th-Century
Culture”
The North American Heine Society invites paper proposals for a panel on
affect, art, and politics in nineteenth-century German-speaking culture.
In the wake of innovative scholarly studies on the history of emotions,
this panel invites papers that explore the ways in which artworks
(literature, music, and the visual arts) interact with the social
structures in which human emotions take shape. Papers need not focus
directly on the poetry, prose and criticism of Heine, but these are
especially welcome.
Abstracts by 5 February 2016 to Jonathan Skolnik
