After Tory minister Greg Clark says tuition fees cost little more than a daily Costa coffee, what other big-ticket items could you buy instead?
In 1915, the poet T. S. Eliot penned the line: “I have measured out my life with coffee spoons”. A hundred years later, the Government’s universities minister has reworked the sentiment into less poetical advice, suggesting that students should measure out their university debt in “posh coffee” cups.
Tory MP Greg Clark says that £9,000-per-year university tuition fees are a “phenomenal investment”, and cost graduates as much as a daily cup of coffee.
