The GSA Kinship and Family Network is organizing a number of panels on the broad topic of Kinship and Family for the 2014 Annual Conference of the German Studies Association, to be held on September 18-21 in Kansas City, Missouri. We invite proposals for individual papers and for pre-formed panels (normally consisting of three papers) treating the topic of kinship and family in any period/s or discipline/s (including, for example, papers addressing historical changes, psychoanalysis and family, technology and family, problematic ideals of family, family fantasies, same-sex partnerships and families, innovative family configurations, family violence and/or disruptions, etc). We are particularly interested in theoretically informed interdisciplinary approaches to these topics and we are eager to consider proposals by scholars who are new to the GSA, or by colleagues in disciplines that have been under-represented at previous GSA meetings.
