The following uncited statement just got added to Wikipedia's "The Hollow
Men in popular culture" article:

   * Eliot's poem was the inspiration for Gabrielle Aplin's song Start of
Time. She got a tatto with lyrics from the poem to mark the release of her
debut album English Rain. 

Normally I just let these go (but rarely I delete them.) This one looked a
bit more promising so I researched it.  I've put some cut and pastes below.

USUALLY polite folkie Gabrielle Aplin has become a right rock ’n’ roller by
getting her first tattoo.

Chart-topper Gabrielle, 20, had a verse of TS Eliot’s 1925 poem The Hollow
Men inked onto her left forearm to mark the release of her debut album
English Rain.

Gabrielle told me: “I started writing poetry before I took up songwriting,
and The Hollow Men was the first poem to inspire me at school.

“It’s the reason I became a writer, really.

“Having the tattoo is a reminder of the sense of accomplishment I feel for
getting my album out into the world, and it doesn’t even hurt that much. So
far, anyway...”

The Wiltshire wonder, whose album is battling with Rod Stewart, 68, and
Vampire Weekend for No 1, insisted she won’t get addicted to tattoos.

Gabrielle laughed: “I might get one or two more for other milestones in my
life, but I won’t be getting one every time I release an album.”

Start Of Time

Start of time was inspired by my favourite poem ‘The Hollow Men - T. S.
Eliot’. There’s a extract from the poem that has been embedded in my mind
from the first day I read it: “Our dried voices when we whisper together are
quiet and meaningless" It means lots to different people, but for me, it was
about not following the crowd because people will notice one person saying
one thing that’s outrageously different, than a group of people shouting the
same thing over and over. I recently had this tattoo’d on to me. Start Of
Time is having an idea so different and finding someone who shares the same
thoughts and beliefs.
