The Author and the Artist [Interdisciplinary] - , :
This panel considers the relationship between the author and the artist.
Conceptual poetics that borrow from the traditions of the visual arts, or
ekphrastic writing responding to a work of art would suggest that parallels
between literature and painting can be both significant and inspiring. So
too might the numerous examples in Germanic literature of citation, parody,
allusion, or the artists who themselves painted - Goethe, Hesse, Stifter to
name but a few. Submissions addressing a wide range of corollary or
correspondence between the two media, or between authors and painters are
welcome. Please submit a proposal of no more than 250 words to Charles
Vannette ([log in to unmask]) no later than February 12, 2013.
