Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Rickard , you have jogged my memory. I heard about this fellow before but I don't remember anything about his being hobbled by Hubble. I do know the Jesuits are into science in a VERY big way, and they have an important astrophysical installation at Castle Gondalfo, the Pope's summer residence, so there are pieces of a puzzle that look like they are related. Did the good Monsignor publish anything that Eliot might have read? What happened for the Msgr to be robbed of his due credit? Pope JP2 liked the BB theory very much, perhaps for obvious reasons. Where can I learn more? I suppose there is the possibility that some of E's work was influenced by him.
At one point I read all the "commentary" sections in E's mag., "The Criterion". His editorials, so to speak. I remember mention of Einstein, but not of la Maitre.
