Aaah. My camel's nose has gotten under the flap of Diana's tent. She is
human she says, she cares (a new version of Descartes) and therefore she
is; she demands that her _is_ be acknowledged by "giving a shit" about
her question. That Carrol confirm/choose a social relation that had no
prior existence, that is the pure act of two isolated instances of homo
s. who by the quetion of one and the (so far denied) response of the
other form a social relation, create a society (which Margaret Thatther
and I'm afraid T.S.E. don't admit can exist) -- to form a society where
none existed before.
Totether, then, if we acknowledge each other, if we refuse to accept
Eliot's reduction of us to dung and death, we can enact human life,
humanity, an essence which gives us both being.
That at least is approaching something wonderful, even if grounded in
false historical premises.
