There is also no escape from her colleagues or herself,
either: "Lovely Rita, meter maid."
Sounds like a line Eliot might have come up with in the
earlier stages of his career. Do you suppose the Beatles
studied his rhythms, rhymes, &c.? Why not? Bob Dylan
studeied Rimbaud, as did Jim Morrison.
