Maine is heaven in summer, but being odd enough to love snow, it is for
me in winter also.
According to Gordon, Eliot frequently sailed up the coast to Casco Bay
(Where Portland is and I live), and the images in "Marina" are of Casco
Bay and its islands. It is all very accurate description.
Summering in Maine sounds like heaven. I did spend a month in Rockport
one summer, taking side trips to Mount Batty, Mt. Desert Isle and other
places. I recall a herd of Belted Galloway cattle standing in morning
mist, and being taken aboard a boat delivering mail to tiny islands
where seals were sunning themselves. Diana
