It's just a fragment I happened to remember from _some_ article by Hugh
Kenner -- I don't remember the article and I don't remembere the whole
quote, though I'm pretty sure about the "throw herself full-bellied to
the sport," that the reference was sexual, and that Kenner quoted it to
give the flavor of Williams when he was speaking to an academic
audience. Sorry I can't help you more. I submitted it despite its
fragmentary nature for the same reason Kenner originally quoted it -- to
give some sense of the "texture" of Williams, which contrasts to the
take CR had on him. Whatever he was Williams was not remotely mystical
or detached. He was aggressively attached, to the extent of being vulgar
while speaking to professors.
