>Panjab University Research Journal (Arts), earlier known as Panjab
>University Research Bulletin (Arts), PURBA, is the mother journal of
>Panjab University , Chandigarh (India ), started in early 1950s. It
>is a bi-annual journal of international repute and publishes research
>papers/articles/reviews/survey papers duly assessed and reviewed by a
>panel of experts. It is devoted to the publication of original
>research papers/articles/reviews of a very high standard in various
>disciplines of humanities, languages and arts. One of the objectives
>of this journal is to create a forum for the transmission and
>exchange of ideas among the scholars within the country and outside.
>Though most of the time, the journal focuses on theoretical issues of
>wide contemporary relevance, occasionally, it announces special
>issues drawing attention toward well-defined thematic areas in
>humanities, languages and arts in general. The journal seeks to
>propagate and stimulate philosophical, critical and interpretative
>dialogue across the national and international frontiers. For this
>reason, we look forward to receiving contributions from scholars
>working in diverse areas covered broadly under the disciplines of
>humanities, languages and arts.

>GLOBALIZATION AND THE CURRENCY OF IDEAS
>
>At the turn of the last century it was the idea of modernity that
>acquired intellectual primacy. Today, however, the notion of
>globalization controls all our thoughts and actions. With rapid human
>migration, accompanied by the spread of the information revolution,
>the world has become a more compact, shared social and economic
>space. Globalization is more than just a buzz-word; it is also about
>people, culture, society, politics, history, and much more. The
>issues we are concerned with today are forever undergoing
>transformation. Concepts such as national culture, cultural
>identities, nation state, ethnicity, hybridity, etc. either become
>redundant or get blurred. We are constantly required to review and
>revise our standpoint.
>
>Accordingly, the study of humanities also undergoes a change which is
>reflected in our academic exercises in the research we undertake,
>in our curriculum and in the new canons that are constantly in a
>state of flux. How we study diverse subjects like literature,
>history, politics and economics consequently undergoes
>transformations. What are the newly emerging areas that grab our
>attention and why? How do they replace yester year's academic
>interests? What implications do they hold for the times to come? How
>will they impact future events?
>
>Panjab University Research Journal (Arts) invites scholarly articles
>(between 3,000 and 5,000 words) for its forthcoming issue on the
>broad theme of Globalization and the Currency of Ideas. "Currency of
>ideas" may be interpreted in several ways as a medium of exchange /
>interaction or circulation, as that which is prevalent or in general
>acceptance, as the state of being current or up-to-date or belonging
>to the present time. What are the ideas in vogue today which shape
>and mould our various transactions? How have they impacted our
>social, economic or political behavior?
>
>This is a call for papers on related issues from across disciplines
>language, literature, the arts / humanities, social sciences,
>cultural studies. Suggested broad areas include, but may go beyond,
>globalization and national literary traditions, globalization of
>markets or labour, popular culture or world culture, language,
>communication, media, and the arts.
>
>All papers will be examined and approved by a panel of referees.
>
>Deadline for submission: July 31, 2007 .
>
>Guidelines for contributors:
>1. Papers should be between 3,000 and 5,000 words in length.
>2. The format should be according to the latest MLA Handbook.
> 3. Parenthetical documentation is to be followed, i.e.,
>reference details of quotations should be in parenthesis within the
>text. A list of Works Cited and Consulted should be appended to the
>paper.
> 4. Footnotes may be used only if a comment is to be inserted,
>i.e., there may be content notes, but not reference notes.
>5. The following information is required along with the research
>paper:
> i. Name, official designation, mailing address, and

>original research and has not been published anywhere else
> 6. All articles are to be emailed as attachment to
>[log in to unmask] on or before the deadline (July 31, 2007 ). In
>the Subject column, please write "Paper for PU Journal". If the
>article is not acknowledged within a week, a reminder should be sent.
> OR
> A hard copy along with a CD may be sent to the Chief
>Editor, Panjab University Research Bulletin (Arts), Arts Block III (2
