Seems to me Bawdylaire's fauberg were something of a burning
cauldron of unholy loves. Then, for Eliot's day at least, there was
the music hall which he so delighted in. The vigour is there even today
if one wants to risk visiting it. Isn't there a whole strain of hiphop,
gangsta rap, &c that has more vigour than it can handle?
From Rimbaud to Rambo.
