Brown reading that appeared here in 1998. I believe former lister Steve
"Robotlord" still has a compilation of those posts on his aol website. A
search using Robotlord + Burbank should turn it up. The compilation is long
and worth reading. It goes into depth, where, I think, conclusions drawn
here lately do not and thus do not express an adequately considered reading
of Burbank:Bleistein, Eliot's two masks in a poem of masks in the city of
masks at carnival time. You have to look for what is happening below the
surface -- and there's a lot -- as the poet tells you: defunctive music
