Whatever happened to analysis?: the observations of a witness as what an
object is and does. Feelings (in the poem, not the in the reader) and
thoughts (ditto), allusions and rhythms, pacing and sounds, this and that,
... Analysis, of course, requires that the reader not feel as if he or she
is being read. A good thing, I'd say.
It drowned in the linearity of prose.
