When Carrol made a statement that Chaucer did nothing
new and that it was the mode of writing in those
times, I didn't have an answer, since I was not too
familiar of such things.
========= I missed that comment of Carrol. He's right.
In effect he said that the medium is the message.
When a writer says something that is standard, or out of time,
only in new clothes, it tends to have the qualitiy of seeming
ever new. Very ironical.
