“German Biography: Making and Breaking Writers”
Papers are sought that deal with how biographers and critics shape the portrait
of writers and other figures in German-language texts. Possible topics include
the narrative strategies in creating biographical portraits, or the role of
gender, race and ethnicity (or their absence) in reshaping the biographical
subject. How do biographers and critics make or break writers and the subjects
of their biographies?
Please send 150-200 word abstracts and a brief CV by the deadline of November 1,
2005. Electronic submissions are welcome and preferred.
