“Animals in German (and European) Literature and Culture: Contesting the Body by
Papers are sought that deal with representations of animals in German-language
(and European) literature and culture in relation to theories of the body. What
impact do animals have in terms of body theory? Are they tropes and metaphors
for body conflicts, or do they break boundaries and grant us new insight into
the (not only human) body, contesting the construct of human exceptionality?
Please send 150-200 word abstracts and a brief CV by the deadline of November 1,
2005. Electronic submissions are welcome and preferred.
