I think you know very well it was not the same kind of complaint at all.
Plato objected to writing because it was farther removed from
"presence" in the sense of the speaker and the listener who could
immediately know, and hence farther from "TRUTH." No one is making any
platonic point about writing here at all, as the use of writing is
itself a premise for the discussion of what kind of writing--or rather
what technology of writing--will be capable of producing complexity,
It's not analogous at all.

Plato made the same kind of complaint about _writing_ as destroying what
we would call culture. He claimed that his own true thought could only
be expressed in speech. Thought reduced to writing was vulgar.
