Things are not a simple as this. The Canadain drug
policy of favoring generic makers has caused generic
drug costs in Canada to be inordinately high.
Canadian seniors are paying high prices to help a
politically connected drug industry. This industry
exploits the basic research done by American companies
(which is subsidized by the American market) and its
political connections to charge Canadian consumers
high prices for drugs they did not create.
