Carrol,
no it's not. Dancing is only allowed in establishments with a so-called
cabaret license.
According to the New York Nightlife Law M. Bloomberg presented a couple of
weeks ago, owners of nightclubs without a cabaret license indicted with
dancing customers face fines up to 30'000 $ and the padlocking of the place.
The number of places in NY where one can dance has dropped from 12'000 to
290. Pretty soon NY will have the charm of Pjöngjang.
According to Robert Pritchard, founder of the lobby group Dance Liberation
Front (DLF), there are only two places in the world where dancing is
forbidden: New York and Afghanistan. And since a year one can dance again in
Afghanistan...
Next time check your own information before accusing others of being poorly
informed.
