Huh?!?!?!?!  Seems a rather tortured scheme to gain support for other gender
shifting ideas.  Why on earth would the narrator see "himself as a 'user' of
the woman's body"?

Reminds me of the gender shifting notions of some of the Shaman mysticism
that Robert Duncan explored.

Now there is something to think about:

a) Robert Duncan was an overt homosexual although occasionally a
heterosexual.  You have long maintained covert homosexual feelings for TSE.
Perhaps TSE was an overt  heterosexual and occasional homosexual.

B) Duncan was raised a theosophist.  Theosophy was one of the many ideas
that were running around early 20th century London.  In fact Madame
Blavatsky was the originator of Theosophy.  It has long been suggested that
Madame Sosostris (Line 43, TWL) is really Madame Blavatsky.  Could TSE have
been a secret theosophist?  Is there a mystical meaning to all his work that
only an initiate can work out?

C) Could TSE have been a member of the Ernest Thompson Seton Woodcraft
Groups in Great Briton which flourished in the early 20th century.  These
groups idealized the American woodland Native Americans and their rituals.
I understand that they exist today in England as the "Order of Woodcraft
Chivalry", "Forest School Camps" and "Woodcraft Folk".  They originated as a
reaction to overt militarism in the Boy Scout movement.

D)  Jaime de Angulo, very much a forest folk of the Big Sur and good friend
of the Pit River Indians and Robert Duncan. is reported (by Duncan's
biographer) to have taken female hormones in order to develop breasts,
dressed in his wife's clothes and then gone out on San Francisco to pick up
young women for a "Lesbian" relationship; a relationship which somehow never
revealed his maleness (this is sort of confirmed by Jaime's daughter who
states that her father was an occasional [her words] "Drag Queen").  Of
course de Angulo was known as the "Shaman of the Big Sur" by Henry Miller
and Robinson Jeffers.

E) Maybe you have found the "Shaman of Harvard Square" and "Bradford Drag
Queen".
