oh how does kates eveery mail seem to get my pulse pumping, i guess I'm to
easy to prod!
So why is froggies wrong? Well, it is and it isn't, the french call us "le
roast beef" and we call them "frogs" picking on each others culinary
habits. It's not so bad. But like everything (and you 'intellectuals'
should be able to appreciate this) it depends on who is using it and how
and when. Nancy is right to describe Kate's usage as mean-spirited and
self congratulatory, because it was. My ex-girlfriend was Half french, she
would sometimes call herself, "your little-froggy."
One day her during the French boycott of British meat, when the UK became
very anti-french (kinda like the US is now) my girlfriends mother (who was
100% french), went to HER local gym where she was a member. There they had
a bowl of apples with the sign "an apple a day keeps the frogs away".
I hope you can appreciate the big difference between these two usages of
the same word. Kate's falls into the 2nd catagory.
