While our computers are binary at a machine level -- bits are on or
off -- what you say is not true. Even the clumsiest of languages allow
for multiple-decision- or knowledge-trees. As for nuance, it is old
news, but worth repeating, that programs are limited (and also freed) by
the state of the art and the skill of humans in using it. And as for
knowing, I think we agree this is a metaphorical useage.
