Call for Papers for German Studies Association in New Orleans,
September 18-21, 2003.
Human Rights, Gender, and Cultural Identities
The panel will explore the ways in which writers incorporate ideas
related to gender and cultural identities to strengthen or question
their own moral positions on human rights and the position of others.
Possible topics could include writings by women and minority writers on
human rights, narrations concerned with nation-building, discourses of
resistance, and the intersection between self-reflexivity and political
criticism. Analyses of works by writers from all historical periods as
well contemporary times are welcome.
