My mistake. I meant Fitzgerald's biography by Arthur C. Benson. It also
contains the phrase Eliot swiped for the opening of Gerontion -- "in a dry
month old and blind, being read to by a country boy, longing for rain..."

In practically everything Benson wrote he cited Fitzgerald and his
opinions--almost all of it is accessible on the Internet Public Library --
all of it except the biography -- which is the source for both of the
Eliotic images. And I can't seem to find my copy. But I know they're both in
there.
