Same theme different era. Not so off topic
as one might think.

Peter, are you thinking of "The Statue" (a 1970 or 1971 movie) with
David Niven, Virna Lisi, Robert Vaughn and John Cleese?
Nah, of course not. ;-)
The plot:
(taken from http://www2.tpg.com.au/users/klsdb4/vaughn/film/the-statue.html)
Alex Bolt, a world renowned English linguist, has just been awarded
the Nobel Prize for having devised a universal language -
Unispeak. Ray Whiteley, the US Ambassador to England, commissions
Alex's wife Rhonda to sculpt a statue of her husband. The statue is to
be placed in Grosvenor Square in front of the Unispeak Foundation and
the US Embassy. But when Rhonda presents an 18-foot high statute of
Alex in the nude, a problem arises. There's no question that the face
is his, but Alex soon realises there is one part of the statue that
bears no resemblance to him at all. This makes him think that Rhonda
must have been having an affair with someone. Alex enlists the help of
Ray, and in order to save much embarrassment, they set off the find
the man who has been having an affair with his wife.
Regards,
Rick Parker
