In my own experience (I am a teaching assistant at a
university in DC and have worked as a substitute
teacher in the public school system), this type of student
resents and mistrusts authority. anything you have to
say will go in one ear and out the other. The best way
I have found to handle the situation is to let other
students respond to their baseless (and base) opinions.
Sometimes this is the only way to open their eyes to
the fact that not all of their peers share their ideas,
and to force them to think of the reasons behind the
opinions they hold so dear.
