If I'm not mistaken, that's not what she said. She said she is an
atheist, Milton is all but equivalent to Diderot in his materialism and
religious only as the age dictated, whereas the FQ, for example, are
seriously religious. She says,
in effect, that Milton is not seriously religious, hence no crawling skin,
while still, somehow, not holding it against the verses of Donne, Herbert,
& Eliot that they are religious.
If it is your own view that the FQ are pedantic as opposed to artistic,
could you give an example?
