I was driving just south of the Quad Cities on I-74 late yesterday afternoon
heading back home several hours yet away. The sky was deep blue and nearly
cloudless. Overhead I could barely make out the glint of metal from which
emanated white condensation trails. I had to pull the car over to the
roadside. And watch. The streaks of soft white lengthened as they they
finally disappeared toward the eastern horizon. The President and his
escorts were flying through surely a lonely sky.
