Dateline Southern Florida: It was so hot today. 98 degrees with the usual
high humidity; no breeze from the sea; no air from the sky. So, I went to
the mall for a couple of hours today for lunch and bought some cool clothes.
When I first became interested in the modernist poets, I heard Marianne Moore
spoken of her terms of greatness. And that she wrote about baseball. I was
quite enthralled. Nearly two thousand miles from winter, I still hold in my
heart the boys of Fenway. Therefore, I expected the exceptional. To be
honest, I was disappointed and unimpressed. Emily D. and Sylvia Plath leave
her in the dust.
