You know Jefferson thought that a revolution every generation or so might be
a good idea.
I think we have become so neutered by concern for group safety that we no
longer value individual rights very much. The individual in fact scares
us. Group thinking has replaced individual thinking. We have indeed become
the government of elite groups that TSE wanted and the individualism that he
so feared has in fact lost the stage. We just renamed conservatism
liberalism. In this way The Waste Land was averted and no sacrifice is
needed to restore the land.
God I hope not. Unlike TSE I sort of like individualism and liberalism. I
must explain that my liberalism is not the liberalism of PBS or Pacifa News.
I think TSE would have been quite happy with today's PBS.
