I don't have a copy of "Literary Essays Of Ezra Pound" edited by TSE =
either. I did check Gallup's bibliography of Pound and did not find an =
essay of that title.. Will look in the UNM library copy of "Literary =
Essays"next time I'm in Albuquerque.

Southam says that the words _il miglior fabbro_ are from =
"Purgatorio" XXVI=20
117.,however, line 117 actually reads _"fu miglior fabbro del =
parlar=20
materno_ and is translated in the temple classics edition as =
"'was a better=20
craftsman of the mother tongue". The line is a partial quote =
from a speech=20
of Guido about Arnaut Daniel. Daniel was a provencal troubador =
much admired=20
by Dante, Pound and TSE. Southham gives as a translation of =
TSE's version=20
"the better craftsman".=20

Actually, "il miglior fabbro" is the exact title of an essay by =
Pound (though=20
not an exact quote of the Commedia). I think Pound's essay is in =
that=20
collection Eliot edited, but I didn't bring it with me.=20
