Well, that's true of course - that is after all also why Eliot's poetry had
such an impact. The work up to TWL was little more than an English version
of the French work. As such the French poetry influenced the English poetry.
The French language was suitable for the style, but it made it's transition
to English more than adequately. I mentioned it because it seemed to fall
outside Karen's definition, however, not because it was modernist poetry in
French, but because French poets invented modernism (with a slight bit of
help from Poe, admittedly).
