Weird is right. That website didn't have much information, though.
The TP memorization trick was in reference to the March Hare poems. There is
a New Yorker article, which I have unfortunately misplaced, that mentions
that Eliot enthusiasts may have smuggled out bits of poetry by memorizing
lines in the special collections room, running to the lavatory, and then
scribbling the verse on toilet paper. The article did specify that this
scenario is only a rumor, and probably never really happened.
Anybody else have the article? It is from about 1997 I think, and ran with a
somewhat disturbing photo of Eliot smoking a cigar.
